Frequently Asked Questions
Should I have my roof inspected?
Yes. Most people think their roof is not damaged because it looks okay and is not leaking. However, if your roof is damaged, the problems may not occur for a few years.
How do I know if my roof needs to be replaced?
Requirements differ from insurance company to insurance company, but the norm is that if you have 8 to 10 hail hits on a 10 X 10 square on all slopes of the roof, it is very likely that roof is going to be replaced.
How long does it take to install a new roof?
The answer depends on the size of your home. It could take anywhere from 1 to 3 days.
Yes, in most cases. If you have a small leak, broken, torn and missing shingles, or plumbing pipe leaks. However, if significant hail damage has occurred in recent months or years, then a full evaluation from your insurance company is necessary.
Can I replace missing and damaged tiles or shingles without calling a roofing contractor?
Strongly, the recomendation is NO. The highest risk for personal injury is falling off of a ladder. Please do not attempt to do roof repairs on your own.
Can I buy my own materials and use a roofing company for labor only?
Yes, but beware. Most roofing contractors get a better price on material than a consumer can purchase on their own at retail pricing. In addition, to be successful in ordering an entire re-roofing package, there may be some missing material items. If a contractor is working for labor only, the profit margin is probably very low, which could influence the construction manager's attention to detail. Also, if the Home Owner is willing to take the risk that no corners have been cut, then our advice is to proceed with caution.
